Diagnosing the requirements
The engineers at Siemens tasked with providing manufacturers insight into the technical performance of their designs deserve a showcase that brings together their achievements in a sleek presentation format. Siemens elected to prime the market with a compact performance car that carries all their design and diagnostic equipment in a single travel-friendly package. We elected augmented reality, the technology best capable to meet the requirements of this exciting story.
Hard and soft ware
A native tablet app unlocks the engineering and acts as an interactive sales portfolio. The hotrod will be at the centre of Siemens events far and wide, providing an in-depth overview of all software and hardware solutions, in industrial context, applied to a key application field: simulations for the automotive industry. Directing the device to the SimRod brings the vehicle to life and allows the user to browse all engineering challenges and proposed solutions.
A nuts and bolts overview
The car parts involved are virtually mapped on the physical frame and featured in a series of videos explaining the applied engineering solutions in all nuts and bolts. Siemens makes the difference with hardware that puts both the practical and virtual feasibility of a design to the test.
The app fits Siemens’ efforts to optimize model-based system testing focusing on digital twinning to a tee. Blurring the boundaries between ideation and execution, design and production, the rod is a real-life testament to the power of digital production methods.
The eye-catching set-up will be leveraged in the event space, trade fairs and at HQs. Showing technologies in context is a powerful reminder of the future ahead for any company seeking to actively drive market demand.
